Candidates get negative in debates
Recent presidential discussion shows Obama leading in the polls, McCain trails but analysts say, it's not over yet.
Tuesday night's presidential debate at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, the second of three, was primarily labeled as not being a "game changer." CNN poll results posted immediately after the debate were in favor of Barack Obama 54 percent to 30 percent.

Last Friday, President Bush signed a $700 billion plan that will bail out the nation's banks and get the economy up and running once again. The market saw its biggest one day drop in history when the bill first went to House members and wasn't passed. The Dow Jones dropped 778 points as stock holders quickly took their money out of the markets.
Flush away Cancer with Up 'Til Dawn
Local chapter aims to raise more money than last year with upcoming events.
UND's chapter of Up 'Til Dawn will be sponsoring the band "Fighting at a College Level" on Friday night at the Loading Dock, in an effort to raise money for St. Jude's Children Hospital. The event is free to the public, and Up 'Til Dawn is only asking for freewill donations.
School of Communication goes
Scomm continues move towards being dissolved, Provost
UND Arts and Sciences faculty voted Monday, 37 to 19 to dissolve the School of Communication and reorganize the faculty, staff and students to other university departments.
There are several more steps needed in order to make the reorganization a reality, but Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Martha Potvin was excited about the meetings results.

Mac Schneider, originally from Fargo, graduated summa cum laude from UND in 2002. He was a member of Student Senate, and also played on the football team and was voted team captain during his senior year.
After graduation, Schneider worked as a legislative aide and press secretary for Congressman Earl Pomeroy.
Stolen laptop causes concern for UND Alumni Association
84,000 alumni affected by recent theft, leaving many concerned about security.
A little over a week ago, the UND Alumni Association and UND Foundation were notified that a laptop computer belonging to their primary software vendor was stolen from a vehicle.
The laptop contained personal information from over 84,000 UND alumni, donors and others and it is yet to be recovered.

Eleven North Dakota higher education institutions see record enrollment
According to the most recent head count released by the State Board of Higher Education, the eleven institutions constituting the North Dakota University System have seen record increases in enrollment through the first weeks of the Fall 2008 semester.
The overall count of students enrolled in North Dakota institutions of higher education has swelled to 43,442, an increase of 3.
