Buning's future at UND unclear
AD has yet to speak to university officials after 4 weeks
Monday will mark four weeks since UND Athletic Director Tom Buning's leave of absence was announced, the amount of time he originally said he would be on leave.
But whether or not Buning will be returning to UND on Monday is still unclear.
"We currently have no idea whether or not Tom will be back at work on Monday," said Vice President for General Administration Phil Harmeson.
$2.5 million granted to physics professor

On Sept. 4, the UND Physics Department was given a grant of $2.5 million to assist in the development of a new program in the department.

UND is awarded accreditation for wellness emphasis
Friday's award was the first CEO Cancer Gold Standard for a university
On Friday, October 5, UND was the first university awarded a CEO Cancer Gold Standard accreditation for striving to prevent cancer and working to further cancer treatment opportunities on campus.
The award was granted to the university following two additional awards from the American Heart Association for promoting health on campus.

James Flynn, a researcher into IQ gains, will be the keynote speaker
UND's Department of Psychology will be hosting the Northern Lights Psychology Conference on Saturday 20 in the Memorial Union. 2007's keynote speaker will be James Flynn from the University of Otago in New Zealand.
The Professor Emiritus is known for his documentation of the massive IQ gains between two generations that has since been known as the Flynn effect.
National Coming Out Day celebrated with all-week festivities on campus
UND's Ten Percent Society hosted activities to honor the yearly event
The Ten Percent Society held various events on campus this week in celebration of National Coming Out Day.
Members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities and their allies observe national Coming Out Day on Oct. 11. Supporters of National Coming Out Day are encouraged to wear symbols, such as the pink triangle, the Greek letter lambda and rainbows to show their presence in all ages and ethnic groups.
Star gazing for amateurs and pros
UND group hosts star parties at the observatory for interested residents
For over four months, the UND observatory has been offering students and local residents a unique glimpse into the night sky. From comets to planets, those who attend these "star parties" have been able to peek through a telescope and study the wonders of space.
Disagreement arises about taking stances
More controversy arose from a Sept. 22 ad in the Grand Forks Herald
A Sept. 22 advertisement in the Grand Forks Herald has caused administrators to look at departments and organizations on campus taking official stances about issues, most specifically the controversy surrounding the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo.
UND Affirmative Action Officer Sally Page sent an internal memorandum raising concerns that these public opinions on a contentious issue could create a "chilling effect," causing students who disagree with the stance feeling isolated in these programs.
